Most people would drop everything and start the celebrations after learning that they won a seven-figure lottery prize.
George Nagy didn’t; instead he tucked the winning ticket into his pocket and went home to watch a football game.
“I had to process it all,” he explained.
The Victoria man said he was at a retailer close to his house when he scanned the ticket, saw the winning amount and went home.
Once he finished watching the football game, he went online and checked the numbers again, confirming his $1-million win from the Lotto Max draw on Aug. 20.
Nagy plans to celebrate the monumental win with his family next month and also wants to use some of his windfall to help family members out.
He’ll use plenty of it on himself though, as he wants to travel more and complete some home renovations.
“This is going to change my life,” Nagy said. “It gives me a chance in the later years of my life to do things I was previously not able to do.”
The winning ticket was purchased from the Save-On-Foods on Pandora Avenue in Victoria.
