Firefighters rushed to the scene of a fire that engulfed multiple units in a highrise apartment building in downtown Vancouver late Monday afternoon.
The fire was spotted coming from corner units in the Coal Harbour building shortly after 4 pm.

According to Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS), multiple floors were involved in “heavy fire.”
In addition, “glass and burning material” fell from the highrise and ignited bushes on the street below.

Crews rushed up to the affected units and attacked the blaze from the inside of the building as onlookers peered on from below.
“The quick response, hard work and experience of crews on scene contained a challenging situation from getting worse,” a VFRS statement explained.

Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries, although several people have been displaced due to the fire.
Investigators continue to probe the blaze to determine a cause and origin.
