Pacific Coastal Airlines suspended its operations on Jan. 2 and Jan. 3 due to the “rapid transmission” of COVID-19 in the company’s operational control centre.
“It breaks my heart to be impacting the travel plans of so many customers, yet we are left with no viable alternative at this time,” says Pacific Coastal Airlines’ president Quentin Smith.
“We are taking this quick and necessary measure to protect the integrity of our long term schedule and safeguard our operation.”
According to a statement, the company “exhausted all options and resources” before making the decision.
Flights will continue as scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 1 and scheduled flights resume on Tuesday, Jan. 4.
Customers who have been impacted will be given the opportunity to reschedule their flights at a later date or have their tickets refunded.

On Thursday, Dec. 30, WestJet also reduced its flights by 15% for January due to the rising impact of the Omicron variant.
