Team “Macedos Pirotecnia” will kick off the 2023 Celebration of Light on Saturday, July 20.

The group has nearly 90 years of history in the Portuguese Pyrotechnics industry.

“The pyrotechnic activity in the family began in 1934 by Joaquim da Silva Macedo, who passed on all his knowledge, techniques and methods to his son and grandchildren,” says the Celebration of Light website.

Team Pyro Tact will light up the sky on Wednesday July 24 as the representative for Malaysia.

The team started as a group of young part-time workers who started their journey in pyrotechnics following a spark of curiosity and a passion for the industry.

The 2024 Celebration of Light will wrap up on Saturday July 27 with a show from Pyrotex Fireworx as the UK representatives. Pyrotex says they use state-of-the-art technology and software to design traditional and pyromusical firework displays that bring “pure emotion” to all of their shows.

The festival draws thousands of people to Vancouver’s waterfront.

It features food trucks, family-friendly activities and a dedicated festival zone.

“Back by popular demand and presented by Red Bull, Pete McLeod brings his dazzling air show performance to the Honda Celebration of Light! Experience jaw-dropping aerobatics all three evenings at English Bay Beach,” says the festival’s website.
