A 13-month investigation has led to the arrest of three teenagers in connection to a serious incident in Vancouver last March.
A Vancouver Police Department (VPD) release says charges have now been approved against the three suspects in the “violent home invasion and kidnapping” in East Vancouver.
The investigation began on March 11, 2023, following the night-time home invasion and kidnapping of four people from their home.
According to the VPD, the victims were driven outside of Vancouver and held hostage for “a period of time.”
“We’ve spent months collecting and methodically analyzing evidence in this case,” explained Sgt. Steve Addison.
“That work led us to the arrest of three suspects who have now been charged for their alleged roles in these crimes.”
Break-and-enter and kidnapping charges have been approved against 19-year-old Ramadhan Ibrahim-Hussein of Richmond, 19-year-old Duoth Techen Garkouth of Surrey and a 17-year-old from Surrey who can’t be named.
Both Ibrahim-Hussein and the youth were arrested in Surrey on April 3, while Garkouth was arrested on April 10 in New Westminster.
All three of the accused remain in custody at this time, the VPD said.
