A family visiting British Columbia from south of the border was left shaken after their Airbnb was robbed as they unpacked their belongings.
The American family was in the process of unloading their vehicle into the North Vancouver unit on July 3 when the incident happened.
According to police, the rear door of the residence was left open and a man was able to steal “several items from the family.”
North Vancouver RCMP officers launched an investigation and shared CCTV footage of the robbery to social media, which produced a lot of tips from the public.
On July 25, a man believed to be responsible for the break and enter was arrested, but has since been released with a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 23, 2024.
"This was a distressing and disruptive incident for the family visiting from the United States,” said Cst. Mansoor Sahak. “What was meant to be a memorable vacation has unfortunately turned into a frustrating ordeal.”
Sahak added: “We hope this arrest brings the family some type of reassurance that the person responsible will be held accountable.”
