Police in Surrey were dealing with a scary amount of drugs recently.
According to RCMP, two recent investigations led to the seizure of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, cash and firearms.
The first investigation was launched sometime in September. Officers acquired a search warrant for a home in the 12400 block of 99 Avenue, which was executed on Nov. 25.
Once inside, police seized $90,000 in cash, 225 grams of fentanyl, 16 grams of cocaine, 24 grams of methamphetamine and 67 fake oxy pills. These drugs were prepackaged for street-level sales.
Two Surrey men in their late 20s were arrested at the scene and later released. Both were known to police and linked to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.
On Dec. 12, another investigation saw officers execute a search warrant in the 7000-block of 150A Street. Police then seized 1.5 kg of bulk fentanyl, 775 grams of bulk methamphetamine, $60,000 cash, one assault rifle and one tactical shotgun.
That investigation is still ongoing to obtain charge approval against one individual.
"These two seizures are significant, not only because it has disrupted drug trafficking network ties with link to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict, but it also lessens the supply of potentially fatal doses of fentanyl off our streets," said Surrey RCMP Drug Unit’s S/Sgt. Glenn Leeson.
"The bulk fentanyl alone represents approximately 150,000 potentially fatal doses and for reference that would be enough doses for a full capacity at a major events arena such as BC Place, three times over."
Anyone with information on illegal drug activity should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
