UPDATE: Young man accused of assaulting BC bus driver quickly ID'd after police appeal

(UPDATE: May 7 @ 12:15 pm) - The Chilliwack RCMP says the suspect has now been identified.


(Original story: May 7 @ 11 am) - Mounties in Chilliwack are turning to the public in hopes of identifying a suspect in an assault investigation.

Police were called to the area of South Sumas and Vedder roads shortly after 6 pm on March 16 for reports of the alleged assault.

A young man is accused of assaulting and injuring the driver on board a city bus.

Investigators have obtained video footage that shows a man leaving the scene following the incident, but have now been able to identify him.

The RCMP provided the following suspect description:

  • Caucasian
  • Approximately 18-19 years of age
  • 6’0”
  • Slender build
  • Brown, wavy hair
  • Wearing (at the time) a red jacket with fur on the hood on top of a grey sweatshirt and blue jeans with ripped knees

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact the Chilliwack RCMP and quote file 2026-10651.
