Post-vacation blues end abruptly after BC man learns of $1M lotto win while unpacking

David Loncarcic is likely going to be travelling a lot more in his future, so he won’t have to deal with the post-vacation blues quite as much.

The Vancouver resident was coming down off the high of travelling when he recently returned from a trip and realized he had a lottery ticket to check from the Lotto Max draw on Aug. 13.

When he looked at the BCLC Lotto! app, he learned that he had won $1 million.

“I just returned home, and I was unpacking. I remembered I had this ticket to check. I didn’t believe it! I thought I was going to faint,” he recalled of the winning moment.

“I showed my wife, and then called my parents and family. They didn’t believe me!”

While he’s going to take some time to figure out what’s next, Loncarcic says there will be some “extra trips” in his future, including one to visit family in Australia.

As for how it feels to win a life-changing sum of money playing the lottery, he said he’s simply “excited and grateful.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Shell gas station at Main Street and East 2nd Avenue in Vancouver.
