(UPDATE: Aug. 17 @ 7:05 am) – The RCMP in Harrison Hot Springs have recovered the body of the man who drowned in the town’s lagoon.
The update was provided in the late afternoon on Saturday.
A search carried out by the local fire department, RCMP and search and rescue team started after the drowning was reported late Friday night.
“We offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the male,” the police said in a news release. “Out of respect for the family no further details will be released.”
(Original story: Aug. 16 @ 1:53 pm) – The RCMP are investigating a drowning at a swimming location in Harrison Hot Springs.
According to the police, a possible drowning was reported Friday night around 11:20 pm.
RCMP officers, the Harrison Hot Springs fire department and local search and rescue members attended and tried to find the person.
The search continued into Saturday and remains an active police investigation, a news release said.
“No details on the missing person are being released at this time. Foul play is not believed to be a factor in this investigation,” the RCMP said.
People in the area are being asked to avoid the area of the Harrison lagoon as emergency crews carry out their investigation.
