Relentlessly brutal Spartan obstacle course coming to BC this year

One of the most gruelling obstacle course races in the world is coming to British Columbia this year.

The Spartan race – notorious for its relentless intensity – will be at Whistler’s Blackcomb Resort from September 14–15.

Athletes of all ages and abilities will be able to push themselves to the limit with 5-kilometre, 10km and 13km adult races as well as 1–3km kids’ races.

The races feature a series of brutal obstacles, including the “Barbed Wire Crawl”, “Spear Throw” and “Bucket Brigade”.

They include more than 30,000 cumulative feet of elevation.

“We’ve had our eye on Whistler as a premiere Spartan destination for a while, and we’re excited that the time has finally come,” said Spartan founder and CEO Joe De Sena.

“The event offers racers the opportunity to test their physical and mental limits beyond what they ever thought possible in a place that has been described as one of the most beautiful places in the world.”
