One day after announcing a change to store hours and an added hour of shopping for seniors in the morning, Save-On-Foods has implemented more changes related to COVID-19.
The grocery chain is temporarily suspending both bottle returns and the use of reusable bags at all of its 178 stores across Western Canada.
Plastic bags will be provided to customers free of charge until further notice.
“Both our team members and customers have expressed concern about bottle returns and in using reusable bags at this time and we want to do everything we can to put them at ease,” said Save-On-Foods president Darrell Jones.
“The health and safety of our team members and customers is our number one priority and we’ll continue to do what’s best for them as this unprecedented situation evolves.”
All of Save-On-Foods’ locations across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and the single store in the Yukon, are now open from 8 am until 8 pm daily.
Each day from 7 am until 8 am, the store will be open to seniors and other vulnerable shoppers only.
