Several people hospitalized after multi-vehicle crash involving BC ambulance

A BC ambulance was involved in a crash earlier today that sent all involved parties to the hospital.

Emergency crews in Nanaimo responded to the multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Dufferin Street and Boundary Avenue around 10:20 am.

The intersection is just steps away from Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

According to police, the ambulance was travelling northbound on Boundary Avenue when it was T-boned by an older-model vehicle travelling westbound on Dufferin Street.

The Nanaimo RCMP said that the adult male driver of the vehicle was its sole occupant and he was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

The ambulance had two paramedics and a patient inside, and all three were treated at hospital for minor injuries.

Police closed the intersection for nearly three hours before it reopened around 1 pm.
