Police in Burnaby are trying to identify a man who allegedly groped a woman who was walking in Central Park on Wednesday night.
An RCMP release explains that the woman was in the trail network near the eastern edge of the park when it happened.
“The victim had been walking alone on the trails, when a man approached her, touching her chest and vaginal area,” the release said. “After the incident the suspect ran away to another area of the park.”
According to police, the victim and suspect are not known to each other. The woman suffered “no physical injuries” and reported the incident to the RCMP immediately.
“Our investigative teams are actively working to identify the suspect in this incident,” not Supt. Sunny Parmar, acting officer in charge of the Burnaby RCMP, in a written statement.
“Public safety remains our priority; we have engaged our Community Response and Bike Teams for enhanced patrols in the area.”

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen someone matching the suspect’s description in the area at the time is urged to reach out to police.
