(Original Story) - A team of local authorities are searching for three people who have slipped and fallen from the top of Shannon Falls near Squamish, B.C. into a pool 30-metres below.
On July 3 at 11:55 a.m. Squamish RCMP received a call from B.C. ambulance regarding the three people involved.
The three missing were apart of a larger group of friends swimming in one of the pools at the top of the falls.
Squamish Search and Rescue (SAR), Lions Bay SAR, BC Ambulance, Squamish Fire, TEAAM, BC Parks, and Squamish RCMP attended the scene in order to coordinate search efforts.
"SAR teams, multiple Helicopter Units and RCMP have been working in all capacities to locate the three people," stated Corporal Sascha Banks.
"As of 6 p.m. tonight we have been unable to visually see anyone in the pool system, but the terrain is difficult, very dangerous, and the water flow is heavy which is complicating the search."
None of the three people involved have been found at this time, but the search will continue through the night and into tomorrow when specialized RCMP and SAR teams will be on-site.
Trails leading to the pool system at the top of Shannon Falls will be closed for the remainder of the search.
Names of the three missing have not been disclosed, but families of the missing persons are being notified of the situation.
