Traffic jam: RCMP clean up blueberry spill on BC highway

Police in Mission, B.C., say they were recently called to a "juicy incident" which then set off a series of puns from the local RCMP detachment.

Police say a loaded pickup spilled crates of freshly picked blueberries at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Wren Street on June 29.

Thousands of blueberries spilled onto the highway, creating what police say was a sticky mess as other vehicles drove over the fruit.

They say officers shovelled the mess from the roadway and the driver received a ticket for having an unsecured load.

Police are now offering to team up with the Mission Farmer's Market to create future offerings.

They say in a social media post that those creations might include "Jack-Knife Jelly, Pothole Preserves and the ever-popular Traffic Jam!"
