BC Ferries said in an update that the "pitch control issue" has been repaired.

They added that the vessel will conduct sea trials using the available tug while the crew awaits final approval from Transport Canada to resume service with the 4:20 pm sailing to Langdale.

In the meantime, three 12-passenger water taxis have been sourced to provide complimentary passenger travel between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale terminals. The service is expected to start shortly and operate in shuttle mode.

Passengers aboard a BC Ferries sailing from the Sunshine Coast to Vancouver are having a rough end to their long weekend.

BC Ferries says that the vessel is unable to dock due to mechanical issues, leaving the ferry and its passengers held up outside Horseshoe Bay.

Passengers have shared on social media that the captain of the ship informed them that they have no propulsion. A tug boat is scheduled to arrive and pull the ferry into dock at around 2 pm, BC Ferries said in a service notice.

The statement did not provide an estimated arrival time at the dock, but promised to communicate updates to passengers directly.

Because of the mechanical issues, some sailings on the route this afternoon have been cancelled.

Anyone with a reservation for a cancelled sailing will be contacted by BC Ferries.

“We are currently sourcing a complimentary passenger water taxi should the regular scheduled service be cancelled. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of these cancellations,” the company added.
