British Columbia’s police watchdog has been notified about a fatal shooting on the Granville Street Bridge.
The police-involved shooting happened Thursday night after officers responded to reports of a “person acting erratically” on the bridge.
“When officers arrived there was an altercation that resulted in the man being shot and killed by police,” explained a statement from the Vancouver Police Department (VPD).
So apparently cops tased and then shot a guy on Granville Bridge. Might want to avoid it as they've blocked traffic in both directions pic.twitter.com/OSMtdCQe4t

Due to the nature of the event, the Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIOBC) is now the lead agency investigating the incident.
The IIOBC confirmed that investigators have been deployed to the area.
“Initial investigative steps will seek to confirm the details of what occurred during the altercation between police and the deceased,” noted an IIOBC statement.
Neither the VPD or IIOBC will provide any further information at this time.
