Woman injured after fight at BC golf course

A fight involving several people at a Burnaby golf course over the weekend had to be broken up by the police.

The Burnaby RCMP was called to the strange scene at Riverway Golf Course around 10:40 am Saturday.

Officers arrived and found a number of golfers that had been involved in the altercation, which began as a dispute between two groups before turning physical.

“One group of golfers had allegedly almost hit the other group with their ball on several occasions,” explained Cpl. Laura Hirst.

Hirst added that a woman was pushed to the ground during the commotion and suffered minor injuries as a result.

Paramedics attended the scene, but police said no one was taken to the hospital.

The RCMP managed to separate the involved parties, then escorted them off the golf course.

“Several witnesses provided statements and video is being reviewed,” noted Hirst. “It is unknown if charges will be forwarded at this time.”

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
