Worker in mid 20s dies from injuries at BC construction site

Police responded to a workplace fatality on Vancouver Island this afternoon.

According to West Shore RCMP, officers were called around 12:50 pm for reports of an unresponsive male at a construction site in the 1400 block of Pinehurst Place in Langford.

First responders rushed to site and performed life-saving measures on the victim, who police say was a construction worker in his mid 20s.

Sadly, those efforts were not successful and the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The West Shore RCMP did not provide any further details on the nature of the workplace incident, but said WorkSafeBC and the BC Coroners Service are both investigating.

The detachment also extended condolences to friends and family of the victim.

Police are continuing their investigation as well, but no further details are being released at this time as efforts continue to notify the family of the deceased.
