Youth stabbed at 'heavily populated' BC park in broad daylight

Mounties in the Lower Mainland are investigating a daytime stabbing at a busy Port Coquitlam park on Monday.

Officers were called to the scene at Terry Fox Park shortly before 3 pm for reports of the stabbing incident involving several youths.

According to police, the young victim was transported to hospital by paramedics and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The RCMP says three youth suspects, dressed in all black, are believed to have fled the scene in a black sedan.

“The park was heavily populated at the time and we are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact our investigators,” urged Cpl. Alexa Hodgins.

Along with first-hand witnesses, investigators are asking anyone with cellphone, surveillance or dash cam footage from around the park between 2:15 pm and 3 pm to come forward.

Those with information that could potentially advance the case are asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2024-27958.
