Luxury realtor Jane Hoffman is momentarily speechless.
"It's wow, it's wow," she first said when the words started to flow.
"I'm astounded by the beauty of this lakeside estate. It truly is a piece of art."
She's speaking of 'The Waterfront Farm,' the sumptuous 20,000-square-foot home set on 8.55 acres at 12391 Pixton Rd. in Lake Country that Jane Hoffman Realty has listed for sale for $45,880,000.
You're reading that right.
This phenomenal property is for sale for almost $46 million.
When I first spied be price I thought I was seeing wrong.
After all, there's never been a home listed for that much -- ever -- in the Okanagan.
The next closest is also a Jane Hoffman Realty listing -- a $21,000,000 estate compound on the lake at 8888 Lakeshore Rd.
But, back to 'The Waterside Farm' on Pixton Road.
It's so called because five acres of the property is peach orchard.
Orchard is ordinary enough in Lake Country, but it's the nine-bedroom,16-bathroom estate on the property that's absolutely extraordinary.
The main wing is the 20,000-square-foot primary residence with seven bedrooms, including expansive lakeview master with private deck, and 13 bathrooms, gourmet kitchen, full and separate butler's kitchen, great room with 31-foot ceilings and open-concept dining room and massive fireplace, wet bar, wine cellar, family room, laundry room, movie theatre, gym spa.
Two attached garages can park 10 vehicles.
Outside there's the pool, numerous covered patios and decks, sauna and change rooms.
The main part of the house is attached by an art gallery-like vestibule to the two-bedroom, three-bathroom, 4,163-square-foot guest wing, which also has a full, gourmet kitchen and dining room.
There's also a 1,872-square-foot caretaker's cottage on the property.
"This estate took six years to build and the craftsmanship is out-of-this-world," said Hoffman.
"It's a very large home, but it has a zen feeling. The timber beams, interior design, furnishings and fixtures make it comfortable. It's breathtaking, but also functional and cozy. The landscaping and outdoor spaces are also incredible."
The $46 million price tag puts 'The Waterside Farm' in a "whole different calibre" of luxury real estate, admits Hoffman.
"It's a reflection of the quality construction, estate size and lakefront acreage," she said.
"This home really has everything you could ever imagine."
A woman from Edmonton owns the home and is selling it to plan for her and her family's future, according to Hoffman.
The estate was initially a $55-million, exclusive listing of Jane Hoffman Realty.
But, this year it was put on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) for $46 million.
MLS exposes the property to realtors and potential buyers all over the planet.
"A home like this takes time to sell and needs to be marketed worldwide," said Hoffman.
"While anyone in the world could certainly buy it, chances are it will be a Canadian. Most high-end homes in Canada are owned by Canadians. But, because this is such a special property, the ultimate buyer might be someone who also considered Whistler, or it could be a buyer who will use it as a corporate home to entertain business associates or as a legacy home for multi-generations."
