(Original story: 12:20 p.m.) - The Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) is closed in both directions between Revelstoke and Golden.

The closure, which is inside Glacier National Park and 10 kilometres west of Roger’s Pass, is due to a major multi-vehicle collision.

According to a driver on the scene, RCMP and ambulance are both on the scene and there is believed to be one potential fatality.

From one photo posted to Twitter, a semi and at least one other vehicle were involved in the crash.

An assessment is in progress and there is currently no estimated time for the highway to reopen.

There is also no detour available.
