Winter weather has forced the closure of the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) between Revelstoke and Golden.
The closure isn’t due to an accident. DriveBC says the major route has been shuttered to accommodate avalanche control work.
As a result, the highway will remain closed until 5:30 pm. No detour is available.
This isn’t the only Hwy 1 closure causing traffic issues across BC's southern Interior this morning, as the route is also closed near Salmon Arm due to “rocks on the road.”
The winter weather is creating issues all over the region, with Hwy 6 currently closed due to a “vehicle incident.”
South of Kamloops, Hwy 5 remains open but motorists have reported significant troubles for commercial vehicles due to black ice.
As always, you can check DriveBC for the latest on conditions and closures on BC highways.
