(UPDATE: Feb. 29 @ 2:30 pm) – After more than 28 hours, Highway 2 has reopened between Revelstoke and Golden.
The highway was closed on Wednesday at 10 am due to “high avalanche risk,” DriveBC said.
Shortly before 2 pm, DriveBC said the highway was open in both directions but motorists should continue to expect winter driving conditions in the area.

(Original story: Feb. 28 @ 9:40 am): With snow storm warnings in place for many highways throughout the Interior, DriveBC is advising motorists that a section of Highway 1 will be closed until Thursday.
Environment Canada says Hwy 1 between Eagle and Rogers Passes are under the warning, with heavy snow expected over the next 12 to 24 hours.
At about 9:30 am, DriveBC said Highway 1 will be fully closed between Revelstoke and Golden starting at 10 am.
This is due to “high avalanche danger.”
There will be no detour available and the next update from DriveBC is not expected until Thursday, Feb. 29.
No exact time has been given for when the highway will reopen, so be sure to keep an eye on DriveBC for updates.
