(Update: Sept. 14, 2019 @ 6 am): Yesterday at 5:56 pm, RCMP Members from Kamloops Detachment and Central Interior Traffic Services attended to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 5 North at the Old Highway 5 Junction.
“Upon arrival on scene, two vehicles were observed to have collided. A small SUV with two occupants was noted to have left the noted intersection to enter onto Highway 5 North. A Northbound pickup truck with two occupants then collided with the SUV," said Sgt Brandon Buliziuk.
“Upon extraction from the vehicle, the two occupants of the SUV were transported by ground and air ambulances to medical facilities for urgent care. Both remain in critical condition at this time. The two occupants of the pickup truck were assessed at scene and are physically unharmed.”
“The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation at this time, being led by Kamloops RCMP Municipal Traffic Services with assistance from a collision reconstructionist.”

Drive BC is reporting that Highway 5 north of Kamloops is closed in both directions.
The highway was closed due to a vehicle incident between Old Hwy 5 and Station Road.

There is no estimated time of reopening, however, an assessment is in progress with an update expected around 7:30 pm.
