Travellers looking to use Hwy 97 between The Thompson-Okanagan and the Cariboo should be aware of some scheduled road work.
According to Transportation BC, intersection improvements at Racing Road and Quesnel-Hydraulic Road are set to begin on May 2. Crews will also be working to widen the highway for approximately 1.1 km.
This project will also include signalization of the intersection at Racing Road, improved movements at Quesnel-Hydraulic Road, improved drainage and more.
As of now, the work is expected to cost the federal government $7.7 million and the BC government $11.3 million.
Construction will begin with the traffic management, drainage work and municipal work in the spring. This will be followed by highway and side road construction and paving in the summer, and site restoration and demobilization in the fall.
