The detour that is in place on Lansdowne Street due to the city centre sanitary upgrades has been extended.
The city says “unforeseen circumstances related to water serving” will see the 500-block of Lansdowne closed to motorists until Oct. 20.
Work on this section of Lansdowne started on Sept. 23 and was meant to last until the middle of October.
The full closures issue to the depth of the hole crews have to dig for the sewer pipes.
The fourth phase of the project requires traffic to be detoured onto 6th Avenue to St. Paul Street, westbound on St. Paul Street to 3rd Avenue, then northbound on 3rd Avenue to Lansdowne Street.
Due to the extension of the fourth phase of the project, the city says it will provide an update on the fifth and final stage of the project “soon.”
That phase of the project will include another full closure of Lansdowne Street from 6th Avenue to 8th Avenue.
Full details on the project can be found here.
