PHOTOS: Group of motorists remove fallen tree from the Coquihalla

If you were stuck in traffic on the Coquihalla on Sunday, there was a good explanation for it.

Pictures shared to the popular Coquihalla Road Reports Facebook group show what the cause was: a tree that fell across southbound lanes just before Hope.

The collection of pictures, which have amassed nearly 1,450 reactions, show a tall fir or spruce tree collapsed during windy conditions.

However, the tree was quickly cleared thanks to a group of motorists who jumped into action.

Eight or more people jumped out of their vehicles to start clearing the roadway as traffic started lining up.

That included an extra-prepared person who just so happened to have a Stihl chainsaw with them.

The comments range from applause to the type that see “faith in humanity restored.”

A few of our favourites include “You never forget moments like this when people jump into help simply because they can.”

“This feels very Canadian. 😂. Buddy just happens to have a chainsaw,” another reads.

And another says: “That’s terrific. You really don’t know what the Coquihalla may have in store in the winter…”

Needless to say, the group of people likely saved other motorists from a few hours stuck in traffic over the busy weekend.
