(UPDATE: May 22 @ 1:05 pm): Police are currently responding to an accident on the Trans Canada Highway in Kamloops.
According to Kamloops RCMP, at 7:30 am, a pedestrian was struck on the highway near the Hillside Way overpass. Officers did not mention how serious the pedestrian's injuries were.
"The westbound lanes on Highway 1 have been closed and traffic is currently being diverted around the accident scene onto the Hillside Way off-ramp," wrote police. "The Kamloops RCMP are requesting that motorists avoid the area or take an alternate route around the accident scene."
Travellers can expect the road to be closed for several hours.

(Original Story: May 22 @ 10:45 pm): Those looking to travel through Kamloops today should leave a few minutes early if they are using Hwy 1.
According to Drive BC part of the road is closed near Hillside Drive due to a vehicle incident. There is no estimated time of reopening.
At this point, only the westbound lanes are affected. A detour is available via Exit 368.
The next update is scheduled to come out at noon. Drive BC did not mention if anyone was hurt from the incident, though witnesses say a pedestrian could have been hit.
