(UPDATE: Dec. 10 @ 2:35 pm) – After an 18 hour closure, Highway 1 has reopened between Hope and Lytton.
The highway was closed Friday evening due to avalanche risk.
Winter conditions kept the highway closed until 2:30 Saturday afternoon.
Drivers will be able to travel the highway once again, however, DriveBC is warning of delays due to congestion.

The highway was closed at about 8 pm Friday evening.

In a news release, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said there was a high avalanche risk in the Jackass Mountain area.
Local traffic is able to travel from Hope to Boothroyd during the closure, however.
Environment Canada said heavy snow and freezing rain would be affecting roads throughout the Fraser Valley.
