Snowfall warning issued for Hwy 3

Another snowfall warning has been issued for a B.C. Interior highway to start the week.

Environment Canada is calling for 25 to 30 centimetres of snow for Hwy 3 between Paulson Summit and Kootenay Pass.

The first 15 cm is expected to fall later in the day on Monday, with another 20 cm in the forecast for Wednesday.

The winter weather is due to a moist Pacific frontal system, set to swing over southern B.C. tonight.

Heavy snow will fall for around 24 hours before easing up later in the day on Tuesday as the system heads into Alberta.

Snow will cause issues for drivers, as will limited visibility at times.

“Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve,” says the Environment Canada alert.
