(UPDATE: Aug. 10 @ 6:15 pm) – The Trans-Canada Highway has reopened in both directions after being closed for several hours.
In an update made just after 6 pm, DriveBC announced that the highway was cleared.

(UPDATE: Aug. 10 @ 3:15 pm) – More details about the vehicle incident that has closed Hwy 1 outside of Chase have been shared by the RCMP.
According to the RCMP, police were first notified of the serious collision between two vehicles just before 11 am on Sunday.
Police added that three people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
The RCMP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service has been called out to the scene.
The highway will remain closed for an undetermined amount of time and all traffic will continue to be rerouted.
(Original story: Aug. 10 @ 2:10 pm) – A vehicle incident has closed a portion of the Trans-Canada Highway in the Shuswap region.
The closure is between Shuswap Avenue and Silvery Beach Road, just north of Chase.
According to DriveBC, an assessment is in progress and a detour is available via Hwy 97 to Hwy 97 A/B.
