Update:
The B.C. Coroners Service has identified the woman as 22-year-old Andrea Mary Jacura of Edmonton.
Original Story:
An Edmonton woman died in a boating accident at Shuswap Lake on Friday afternoon.
Sicamous RCMP were called to the scene at approximately 2:45 p.m. on July 10th.
The 22-year-old woman was on a houseboat with friends near the Cinnemousun Narrows when the accident occurred.
The houseboat was being parked at Nielsen Beach, located approximately 40 minutes from Sicamous by boat, when the woman jumped into the water and was swimming behind the boat. The boat was then put into reverse, and the force of the vortex created pulled the woman into the propeller.

She sustained very serious injuries to her legs and torso, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“It was just an unfortunate set of circumstances,” said Constable Patrick Pyper of the Sicamous RCMP. “Had the boat not been put in reverse, she would have been fine swimming behind the boat.”
The B.C. Coroners Service is continuing the investigation.
