Evacuation alert issued for Sicamous mobile home park residents

An evacuation alert has been issued for a mobile home park in Sicamous due to the threat of a landslide.

The District of Sicamous and Shuswap Emergency Program issued the warning this morning.

The risk of a landslide near Wiseman Creek “is increasing and may post a risk,” the district said.

Homes 1 to 27 at Sicamous Creek Mobile Home Park on Hwy 97A are affected by the alert.

The district added: “Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.”

Residents are urged to gather essential items and prepare a “grab-and-go” bag.
