As a forecast for prolonged rain remains in place across much of the Interior, an at-risk mobile home park has been placed under evacuation alert for the third time in a month and a half.
Residents of the Sicamous Creek Mobile Home Park were issued the evacuation alert at 3:30 pm Monday.
The Columbia Shuswap Regional District says that the threat of a landslide near Wiseman Creek is increasing due to the rain and presenting a potential danger to life and property.
Twenty-seven properties are under evacuation alert and reminded to be prepared to leave with limited notice due to the changing weather conditions.
A flood watch was also issued at 8 am on Monday, June 13 for the Shuswap region including South Thompson River tributaries (Seymour River, Eagle River, Adams River, Shuswap River and surrounding tributaries).
The mobile home park was placed one evacuation alert June 4 and May 5 due to the risk of a landslide.
The CSRD has been anticipating a landslide in the Wiseman Creek watershed due to the aftermath of the Two Mile Road wildfire, which burned nearly 2,500 hectares.
Earlier this year the regional district voted against salvage logging because of the degree of damage caused by the wildfire.
The wildfire destroyed much of the vegetation in the Wiseman Creek watershed which greatly increased the risk of a flood, debris flow or landslide.
If you or someone you know lives in the area, be sure to visit the CSRD Facebook page or website to stay up-to-date.
