Sun Peaks is gearing up for its summer season and kicking things off with 5K Foam Fest this Saturday. Five-kilometres of obstacles will be doused with 2.5 million cubic feet of all natural coconut foam for the second year in a row.
Participants as young as eight can tackle the no-competitive course that features 22 different obstacles — the spider web forest, chamber of foam, cargo climb, body washer, mega slide and others equally thrilling. The event runs 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with 15 minute wave times open all day.
365 Sports takes the course across the country each year and anticipates to see upwards of 5,000 racers this weekend in Sun Peaks. A festival area will be set up with other activities from bounce houses to inflatables, smaller obstacles, a 20-foot skyfall drop and a kids zone, plus food and drink vendors.
Last year, 365 Sports donated $35,000 to Habitat for Humanity and thousands of pounds of food to local food banks. Participants are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to donate.
Check out the website to register you and your family. Sun Peaks has all the details for participants, including parking info and items to bring on its events page.
Sun Peaks opens for chairlift-accessed hiking and biking next weekend. A host of events are planned for Canada 150 celebrations on July 1st, including 54.40 live on the main stage.
