Time: One hour
Take the Lac Le Jeune Exit off Highway 5; the park is 35 kilometres south of Kamloops. Turn off at the McConnell Lake Provincial Park sign.
This loop offers beautiful views and a quaint narrow path through the forest full of Douglas Fir and Spruce trees.
In the summer, there is a dock on the water where you can swim or just sit and take in the beautiful scenery. Along the path in the summertime, you’ll find many beautiful wild flowers including but not limited to wild rose, bunchberry, and tiger lily.
This is a great lake/ trail loop to bring your kayak on, perhaps a fishing rod, or you can walk, bike, snowshoe, or cross country ski. You may find a couple log cabins, which belong to the Fish and Game club.
You can also access the Stake Lake trail systems from this McConnell Lake Loop.
This hike can be done in winter and summer months and is dog friendly. It might be a smart idea to bring your snowshoes in the wintertime, but this trail does get a lot of action so there is usually a nice path in the winter.
Dress appropriately, depending on the season. In the summer, bring your swim suits and trunks to enjoy the lake And remember to always pack lots of water and snacks for you and your dog.
Hope to see you in the hills. Take only photographs and leave only footprints!
