Things You’ll See

The Stake Lake trail systems can be used year-round and there’s wide variety of different things you can do, from hiking or mountain biking in the summer to snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter.

These trail systems are accessible in the summertime from McConnell Lake. All the trails are well maintained and, in the winter, the cross country ski tracks are regularly groomed.

What’s great and unique about this destination is you can adventure at night, as they have lit trails for evening cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

The trails are maintained by the Overlander Ski Club and the staff are super friendly. There are fees for using this expertly cared for trail network and all rates are on their website.

Trail Tips and Things to Bring

If you don’t have your own equipment, you can rent snowshoes or cross country skis on site. Find rental rates here.

This is a year-round destination, but dress appropriately for the weather. Layers in the winter and always lots of water and snacks.

While dogs aren’t allowed on the regular trails, there is a five-kilometre dog-friendly ski trail and a dog-friendly snowshoe trail for your furry friend.
