‘Tis the season to make your summer travel plans, and Canadians don’t have to go far to find some interesting getaways.
No matter which side of the country you’re in, you can find spectacular accommodations, and in the spirit of wanderlust, we’re going to share with you some of Canada’s most unique getaways.
Airbnb’s list of most unique wishlisted stays highlights everything from boat houses, yurts, tree houses, earth homes, castles, lighthouses and more.
According to Airbnb, travellers seem especially fond of tree top escapes, with tree houses making up 10 of the top 40 Canadian wishlisted stays in 2021.
Two tree houses on Vancouver Island and one in Chilliwack made the top 26 list.
Being close to nature was a trend on this year's list, with an off-grid earth home being one of the most popular listings.
Nestled in the woods of Hope River, Prince Edward Island, the fully off-the-grid Earthship features a south facing wall of windows, an earthen floor, a green roof, and a studio loft.
Then, there’s the charming Lighthouse on the Bay in St. Ann’s, Nova Scotia, which promises the “privacy to be creative in a historic setting.”
The Airbnb is set in the Monroe Point Lighthouse, built in 1905. It was a working lighthouse until 1962.
If what you’re looking for is mountain and lake views, this yurt in the Yukon should be right up your alley. The handcrafted Mongolian yurt is set in 21 private acres on Cowley Lake, making it the perfect place to base your Yukon adventures.
And, for those who may or may not have a bit of royalty in their blood, check out this literal castle in Moncton, New Brunswick.
The heritage property was built over 100 years ago. The current owners gave the interior a modern makeover, but added that they were able to preserve some of the building’s original character.
