It was inevitable.
After a year of flying, ultra-low-cost Lynx Air has added giant cat paw prints to the exterior paint job of its latest jet.
The unveiling coincides with the use of corny puns on the airline's social media channels such as 'paws for applause,' 'leaves some tracks on our fleet' and 'reducing Lynx's carbon footprint.'
Lynx the airline is named after the quintessentially Canadian lynx -- the medium-sized wild cat with those distinctive triangular ears with black tufts at the tip.
The lynx also serendipitously has snowshoe-like paws perfect for recreating on an airplane's fuselage.
Locally, Lynx flies between Kelowna and Calgary (with same-plane service onto Toronto) and Victoria and Calgary.
The Lynx network also includes Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Hamilton, Montreal, Fredericton and St. John's domestically and transborder to sunspots Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Orlando.
The light-blue paw prints made their debut on the sides of the 189-seat Boeing 737 Max 8 jet that was delivered this week from the Boeing factory in Seattle to Lynx's headquarters in Calgary.
It's the 7th 737 in Lynx's fleet.
All future new planes -- and there are 10 on order -- will also feature the paw livery.
Eventually, Lynx's six original planes will get updated paint jobs.
"We are thrilled to be receiving our seventh Boeing 737 aircraft, which will enable us to expand our North American network and offer our ultra-affordable fares and great flying experience to more Canadians," said Lynx CEO Merren McArthur.
"These ultra-efficient and reliable aircraft reduce Lynx's carbon footprint, making us one of Canada's most sustainable airlines. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with (aircraft leasing company) BOC Aviation and Boeing, as we continue to transform the aviation market in Canada."
