Through observation and tests, police determined that the 26-year-old Vernon woman was impaired.

"Based on their observations, officers on scene launched an impaired driving investigation," said Constable Chris Terleski. "The driver failed a roadside screening device test and was transported to the Vernon RCMP detachment where she provided additional samples of her breath to police."

The woman was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle as well as operating a motor vehicle while her blood alcohol exceeded 80 milligrams.

She has since been released from custody pending a future court date.
