It was a busy Saturday for the Vernon Fire Rescue Services as they responded to a pair of unrelated structure fires.

Upon arrival, crews discovered an outbuilding fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly contained the fire and limited the damage.

The file has since been handed over to the RCMP.

The second blaze was at approximately 1:30 pm in the 1400 block of 39b Avenue.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire on the exterior of a detached garage with an extension into the attic.

The fire was quickly contained and the damage was limited to one structure.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, but not considered suspicious.

“In both incidents, the fire was quickly brought under control,” said Deputy Chief Alan Hofsink.

“Today is an example of the dedicated hard work and expertise of our members.”
