Conditions on the Bush Creek East wildfire in the Shuswap region have remained relatively stable since last week.
The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) says fire activity increased a bit on Saturday due to warmer temperatures, which caused tree candling on multiple points around the fire.
That risk is expected to continue throughout the day on Sunday due to strong wind from the southeast.
“These winds have added mature pine stands to the fire behavior advisory today which include the potential for them to candle,” the service says.
Work is ongoing within the fire area to decrease the risk of danger trees to ground crews and the public, according to the latest update from the BCWS.
Crews with BC Hydro remain on site helping with repairs to power infrastructure.
There are 191 firefighters, 35 support staff, 29 pieces of heavy equipment and 10 helicopters working on the Bush Creek East fire today.
Operations continue to see crews mopping up, patrolling the fire perimeter and delivering water to existing hot spots.
On Tuesday, property owners who lost their homes were allowed back into the communities of Celista, Magna Bay, Scotch Creek, Leek Creek and the Lower East Adams Lake area to view and assess the damage.
Since then, many evacuation orders have been downgraded to evacuation alerts.
There have been no changes to those notices over the weekend.
