(Original story: May 25, 2024 @ 9:00 am)Since being discovered Friday afternoon, a wildfire on Drinkwater Road outside of Spences Bridge has continued to grow.
According to a Saturday morning update from the BC Wildfire Service, the blaze is now 30 hectares in size and remains out of control.
The fire is suspected to be human-caused and the BCWS said it is burning on the east side of the Thompson River.
In a Friday night social media post, the BCWS said “the wildfire is burning on a steep slope and displaying rank three and four fire behaviour, meaning a vigorous surface fire with a moderate rate of spread."
The service added in the post that three initial attack crews were on the scene with helicopter support.
