Vancouver born Connor Emeny is a month away from setting an epic record in athletic achievement.
The 26-year-old is on track to become the World Record holder as the youngest person to ever complete an Ironman on all six continents.
His final race is set for May 29 in Brazil. If completed, he would have raced in six Ironman competitions in the span of just over two years, despite COVID issues impacting the world at that time.
“I wanted to go on this journey to find out what I was capable of,” Emeny explained. “I wanted to learn new cultures and push my body to its absolute limit and show people that any dream is possible. The process has provided greater purpose and the stories will provide memories for a lifetime.”
Canadian Elizabeth Model, who herself set a record of most Ironman races completed by a woman with 100, calls Emeny an aspiring individual.
“Connor is taking on a challenge that you can’t help but admire and I join other Canadians in wishing him the best of luck.”
The five previous Ironman competitions that Emeny completed were:
Ironman Taupo (New Zealand)- Oceania on Mar. 7, 2020
Ironman Chattanooga, Tennessee- North America on Sept. 26, 2021
Ironman Mallorca (Spain)- Europe on Oct. 16, 2021
Ironman South Africa- Africa on Nov. 26, 2021
Ironman Philippines- Asia on Mar. 6, 2022.
An Ironman triathlon consists of a 3.86 km swim, 180.25 km bike ride and 42.20 km (marathon distance) run in that order. In the Philippines race, Emeny finished 146th, with a time of 15 hours, 40 minutes and 28 seconds.
