While it was a disappointing season for the Vancouver Canucks, the franchise’s affiliate team has been on a remarkable run and clinched a berth to the Calder Cup Finals on Sunday, the championship series for the American Hockey League (AHL).
The Abbotsford Canucks secured their spot in the finals with a 4-2 win in game six of their series against the Texas Stars.
After going down 2-0 just past the halfway point of the match, Surrey’s Arshdeep Bains put the Canucks on the board at the 18:52 mark of the middle frame.
The Canucks entered the third period with momentum and Surrey's Jujhar Khaira evened the score shortly into the period.
As the frame went on, Max Sasson gave Abbotsford their first lead of the match and Bains sealed the win with an empty-net score.
