It is one of the rarest feats in all of sports when an NHL goaltender scores a goal – and adding his name to the record books is BC’s very own Tristan Jarry.
The Pittsburgh Penguins goalie got the puck just outside of his crease on Thursday night and ripped the puck down the ice and into the empty net.
Not only was it Jarry’s first career NHL goal, but it was also the first time a Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender scored a goal.

Born in Surrey, Jarry spent his junior career with the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL and he has some experience scoring goals.

In 2018, Jarry was playing for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League.
Up 3-1, Jarry got a hold of the puck from his own net and scored the first goalie goal in the club’s history.
Jarry now joins an exclusive club of netminders to score an NHL goal including the legendary Martin Brodeur.
