The soccer action started earlier with Slovenia and Serbia playing to a 1-1 draw at the Euro 2024 tournament.
Denmark versus England will follow suit this morning before Spain and Italy take on each other at noon.
The cherry on top for local soccer fans will come in the evening when the debutant Canadians open the 48th edition of the Copa América tournament against the defending World Cup champions Argentina.
The Canadians have their hands full with the arguably greatest soccer player in recent history, Lionel Messi, who might play in tonight's match, but as Vancouver Whitecaps fans know too well, there is a chance he will be kept off the pitch to rest.
Canada will be led by recently appointed head coach Jesse Marsch, who took over the team in early May.
On the pitch, Alphonso Davies will lead the squad after being named captain, with Stephen Eustàquio serving as the team’s vice-captain.
The last time the Canadians played Argentina was a friendly match in 2010, which Argentina took 5-0.
Canada is the eighth Concacaf team (North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football) to appear at the tournament.
Kick off for the anticipated match is set for 5 pm PDT.
