A fan was taken to hospital during last night’s Vancouver Canucks game after being struck by a puck that flew over the glass.
Fans and players both seemed concerned as referees delayed the game by going to intermission early.

According to a statement from Canucks Sports & Entertainment, the fan is recovering and has been released from hospital:
"The fan struck by a puck at last night's game received first aid treatment from St John's Ambulance medical staff, as well as on site assessment from a team physician. She was treated and cared for on site, then transported as a precautionary measure to a local hospital for further evaluation. We continue to be in communication with her and her family who have indicated she is home and resting comfortably. Out of respect for their privacy we are unable to provide further comment, but we are pleased to hear she is doing better.
Fan safety is our top priority at Rogers Arena. We commend the NHL officials for stopping play, and our first responders and medical staff for their attention and care. We strive to provide a game experience that is safe and enjoyable for all guests." - Jeff Stipec, COO, Canucks Sports & Entertainment
In September, a young girl was taken out of Yankee Stadium in the New York on a stretcher after she was struck in the face by a foul ball.
The incident has reignited calls for Major League Baseball to improve fan safety in its stadiums.
Currently only about a third of MLB clubs have netting that stretches down the baselines.
In 2002, the NHL made netting behind each goal mandatory for all arenas.
